haibun || Sheila E. Murphy

Simple as This

You live somewhere that you protect, declare that it protects you. Walls shape thought. Each window gives a light to read by. Garden answers phases of the weather. Shadows confused with trees. A brush of scenery retracted, as mild sky yields to the temperature. You breathe a center daylight or the pallor of a moon. A noticed moment has already been removed. Something you considered grown, a yellow flower.

Fact, choice, sensory attention, fractions of a mood
