Lawrence Upton - Free Hums

Hum.

Perhaps. But no perhaps; unless.

Oneness perhaps. Possibly. Perhaps duality. Fancy makes a threesome.

In the one hand out of the other. Hear and how! Shuffling on one foot to another iamb changing stress!

Neck. Knotted. Lack of nous. Choked when it's told. Perhaps.

Hum.

Perhaps, mayhemmed, as happy as one am can be. Mayhap . Contained, trained, practised in art of being at pleasure. Feathered. Falling from great light a broken wing wacks the ground.

Hum.

Off cause.

Christopher Barnes - Five Poems

***
1. Utilize “Pharmaceutical Revival” ™

Our “Better Screens” placebo-inducing curtains
Are fortuitous in any infirmary.
(He captures her smile in a Kodak.)
Loomed with strung-random aspirins
We dissolve thoughts of pain,

Supporting health by association.

***
2. Twinkles In Nightspot lights

For unsound bones.
  (Mirrorball, swing-dancing, tall, brimming glasses.)
Be the chitchat.
“Voguish Solutions” ™ introduce –
Plaster casts moulded from reprocessed vodka bottles,
Crunched to harmlessness.
  (Good cheer smiles.)
Issued with protective lining
Effortless to apply,

Dries in a flash.

***
3. Whisk Away Your Purchases…

In a “Mother Sweet”™ basket
Tastily woven from sugar cane fibres.
  (Pyramid of meringues.)
Cherry-pick a hood,
Butterscotch or marzipan.
  (Steaming Toffee Pudding.)
For gateau and roly-poly nibblers

Who unmistakably crave it all.

***
4. Permit Motivational Ltd. To Fit You Out…

In June’s essential textile –
Silicone-bobbled diet pills
On midnight lace.
  (Revealed in hotel window.)
Eternally waterproof in unruffled use,
Fadeless in blazing afternoons.
  (Reclining on plaited chaise.)
Overlook skulking in the half-light of a windbreak,
Thread our “Summer Love”™ bikinis with a flatter.

Be the favourite on the beach.

***
5. By “Surfacing Cosmetics”™

Kick-start the chores with a fragrance
The senses won’t begrudge.
  (Entrance-making white ball gown.)
Revives and valets
Spent, have-the-pip faces.
  (Monitor, keyboard, plugged-in desk.)
Tequila-lemon wipe pads

For the party’s aftertaste.

Two Teeth

Don’t snozzle your mask
don’t spangle your smile
don’t childrenly chuckle to yourself

                        birthed to bloom
                        now lost of blossom
                             to a muddiness
                        among a plethora of plumpness

rot sprouts ubiquitous sitcom
                                                spreckles
as if                                         speckled on a blue spreckled sap sucker’s eggs

dross imagos   dross talk   dross teeth   dross existence
wire tired—    the guns out already
and of course not one of them            backfires
so very naïve to the abspestos painting [the work of art — the weak of art]
                                    upon the ceiling poisoning
the air from lobby to roof

at every turn of the maze a mirage suddenly springs up—

Ceasar knows best
the candyfloss from the candy tree
brings a reader exaggerated focus [say “sugar high!”]
confused imagos—     something tells me the apes will be back
but not immediately—         this poem painful as looking for a haystack
in a giant pile of needles.

Roger Olson - "..." and its obvious consequence

Author's Note: I had a dream where i couldn't understand a thing. I was listening to someone. This person was trying to tell something really important but i just couldn't understand a word. It was greek to me. And i was doing all these "Oh, eh, ah, uh, huh"'s trying to keep the conversation going. And the person got really-really irritated and so she started to slap my face and then i lost my consciousness and found myself in a bag which was falling into the river and then i woke up. This poem attempts to transcribe my part of that surreal conversation.

Fanny Chissom - Five Punctuation poems

Author's note: I think words are overused as prime tools for writing poetry. I like the abstractness and words just don't give me that. So i've tried to use punctuation in order to create truly abstract poetry.

Dorothy McIntire - Poem with too many X's

Author's note: what is X? It is one of those letters we use to cover something. Names are often concealed by X's, bad words are often replaced with X. But what if X is the last letter standing and there is nothing left? What's then? That's what i'm trying to explore.

Vasyl Dybchuk - One random letter per line Seventy Times

Author's Note: My reasoning for doing it is simple. Horizontal plains are widely exploited by literary forms while vertical are woefully ignored. Since this is digital space - i think we can try something different. And not exactly meaningful.

An Announcement

Dear dedicated readers of the blog,

You have most likely noticed the increasing infrequency of new content being posted here over the last several months. Due to a variety of reasons, it has become a struggle for me to continue managing experiential-experimental-literature, and so I am stepping down as its editor. However, this does mean the end of the blog. Faithful contributor Volodymyr Bilyk has agreed to take my place and revitalize this space. The email address for submissions will remain the same and the archives will be maintained, but the blog itself will be given a much-needed makeover in many ways. Stay tuned, and thanks for all of the wonderful correspondence these past four years.

poem || Peter Ganick

locusts.

the teevee is spewing content.
it is content with that.
content that is naturally involving.
evolving. as it is a   concept.
all concepts evolve, they are not static.
just because they to be made of words when written,
this is because the words, that cd be simplified to be electrical impulses,
have meanings—the content is basically meaning.
meaning is inherent in all matter.
just like the spiritual dimension is inherent in all matter, really.
the spiritual, if i may say so, is characterized by a vast space.
space is the place, as sun ra said.
this brings up 2 points.
1—who is sun ra?
and
2—what is the content of space?
is space empty? can space be empty?
if space were empty, what would its content?
ultimately, all this writing provokes in this person-as-person,
not writer, is content, whatever that content might be.
it is a logical circle in which the steps are not directed congruently.
or, there are no parallel lines except when one postulates their existence.
nature doesn't create two exactly parallel lines.
the mind cannot actively conceive of two concepts simultaneously.
the existence of concepts is thereby disproven,
and their existence would not be in opposition.

Manner of Speaking

Coaxing etiquette out of malaise. Watered down to a giggle catching
sight of private parts of the play. A tangle’s chance to grow legs for the
journey. Crannies stuffed with promises to bury the headline in a shadow
of itself. A tock’s first hint of a tick in its past. Amidst fictions of death in
passing, pushing straw men to shed light, like burden blazing trails to
smitten hallelujahs in the dark. Keeping the dream alive on borrowed
air for purposes obscured from view. To shelter the sequence of come
and gone, to see the balance find its shadow in compliance with the tilt.
Keeping collapsible landscapes underfoot. Steps into shoes keeping
pace irrelevant upon arrival. The faint scent of an image, auditioning
to trigger the memory of an unscheduled day in court. Falling for the
weight of the worldly. The gravitas. Scouting routes through the
hollow for echoes run rampant in the cold. A peremptory unveiling
sowing seed in the boneyard, mulled for clues in the round and down
to business. Naked off the tongue. Baring secrets of the fall into arms
without touching, the fear of breaking the bubble calling for more.
Putting the squeeze on a pedestal. The emphasis upon a relic in clean
underwear, for swearing into the shape of tomorrow. The stuff of
which without there isn’t. A way of being next to with the empty
all around. Calling on the dead of night to join in. Filled with lack
of mostly, adding up to room to breathe the nostrum in so many
words. Predicating the gist upon inflection buying time at a
discount in the hurry to reason why.
