poem || Sheila E. Murphy

Here, the Reasoned Lex-

More savvy than saved,
this  immediate osmotic refuge,
nudged into place,
in time will disappear.

What of this honeymoon
reflects the sun's original
repose? More often
than obligatory,

the taken notes, forsaken
by benevolence
in truth ruthless,
revere the zilch,

while  rafters legislate
our reach. Their elders,
still construed, retain
that provenance

we link to mirth
consumed or shaken
loose from rigid
trees with struts and roots.
