haibun || Sheila E. Murphy

Morning

Pond holds stillness in (the pond), one watches it not shift, or shift to wind, to form awareness. A prayer of white space, prayer of depth to have extended what the pond is (not) equal to what is in the pond. In just a moment, everything becomes. As one begins to see (leaves in atmosphere). Fresh water images once removed. One sees one's breath, perceives the recollected pieces grown together, flexible, changed slightly, or not at all. One speaks informal rescue from apartness. In silence now held breath, momentous reach apart from changing of first truth preserved (this truth). A shadow of our safety and our circumstance. The lexicon of certainty, crisp clarity.

Chaste surface, revelation of twofold dimension, even breath
