never mind the crimson flash of gleaming
scissors snipping leaves down off the flowers
in a four-game hitting streak through combs
some tangled movements or another factor
might distract successful means outguessed
and unaware reflecting little more
your strong and idealistic bent right down
to judge how little or how much your co-
workers and customers believe you’re calling
on fortune teller windows won’t receive
your imprecise astrology predicting
a callous skepticism any good
officer accidentally fires the gun
while taking money from the teller drawer
